The Holy Moly

The Holy Moly, originally a masonic temple is a revitalised, almost 100 year old  building in the heart of the downtown historic blues precinct of Clarksdale Mississippi. Comprising some 12500 sq ft.The ground floor has beeen recently rebuilt to house apartments for artists to live and work from, a vacation rental for short term visitors, and an icecream/soda fountain/coffee bar called "The Holy Moly Drug Store" housed in what was known as Haggard drugs for more than 70 years.

The second floor of The Holy Moly has a theatre/concert venue set up for music, storytelling and film, together with workshop and meeting spaces, and accommodation for artists involved in the facilitation of boutique  events held there. The This newly revitalised area of the building will be the venue for the Juke Joint Jam Academy.

The owners of the Holy Moly, Carla Maxwell and Adrian Kosky, are an Australian American couple who have spent the last few years rebuilding the old temple for it's new uses with the help of great local tradespeople. Making their home in the building, they have continued their work developing creative pursuits that further enrich the culture and economy of  historic downtown Clarksdale, Mississippi, as well as create employment opportunities for local people.

Adrian Kosky is a self taught musician, and singer songwriter, who does not read or write music, and holds jamming and improvising skills close to his heart in his pursuit of all things musical. He is also a keen re  builder of old buildings, and small businesses. Originally from Australia, he has been drawn to Clarksdale for it's strong cultural economy, the blues originally, and now it's friendly and welcoming people.

Carla Maxwell is a trained teacher, musician, and folk artist, who has fostered music in others by way of holding house concerts, and music gatherings  for over 10 years, both in the USA and in Australia. Originally from Memphis, Carla met Adrian at a music event 10 years ago, and as they say, the rest is history....

Together, they own and operate The Holy Moly, and encourage, and welcome you to join them during the world famous Juke Joint Festival, for the Juke Joint Jam Academy
